A passion for italians and tourists too
Today the Saracen Joust is an historical re-enactment very famous among the citizens but also interesting and well know among Italian people and strangers from all over the world!
The 4 neighborhoods
The protagonists of the event are the 4 quarters of the town with their knights:
Porta Crucifera (green and red banners)
Porta del Foro (yellow and crimson banners)
Porta Sant’Andrea (white and green banners)
Porta Santo Spirito (yellow and light blue banner)
…and be careful not to confuse their colors!!!
Victory’s a matter of inches
The knights of the quarters challenge each other on the Piazza Grande wonderful scenario.
What they need to win? It’s simple: an excellent horse ride, the maximum precision of hittin the target with the spear and above all…speed! Will the knight succeed and avoid the terrible punch of the rotating armor puppet?
